The Tilley Timber Project is largely supported by the local community, including the people of Tilley and nearby Wem. In August 2014 we gained financial support through a substantial grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF). The team is made up of academics and professionals that are allied to the science of historic buildings. The primary outcome of the project is the dating of selected timbers from 28 timber-framed buildings using dendrochronology (tree-ring dating). The fieldwork and analysis for this element of the project will be undertaken by Dr Andy Moir. Further scientific analysis of the buildings will include 3D laser scanning and modelling (organized by Andy Beardsey) and Geo-referencing by Les Dodd and Phil Dell. Finally, Caroline Malim will provide the art and design work for several display boards.
